We are Love Letters 2 SJ + We are looking for new volunteer memmbers!
We are San Jose Strong's South Bay Research Team, dedicated to exploring, promoting and uplifting community voices within the creative culture of San Jose.Our current project is a series of community-wide zines, collecting submissions ("Love Letters") from all residents of the Bay Area* to San Jose; a thank you for everything it’s given us. Formats can include photo, art, poetry, fashion, physical/typed love letters, or anything else submittable, with the option to submit anonymously. We released our first issue Spring 2024, and we're excited for future issues and exhibitions!In addition, we hope to attend events to interview and feature local creatives, activists, and businesses through interviews and short films.Join Us! Submission Guidelines

Submit (anonymous)The current theme of our second issue is "Wish You Were Here" - a love letter from the places, memories, and people that characterize San Jose to you. From your favorite taco truck to bilingual elementary schools to street fairs and the Eastside lowrider scene — we want the bits of San Jose you would send in a postcard, mailed millions of miles away or tucked under a best friend’s doorstep. What place in San Jose would you like to share?Love Letters to San Jose is currently taking submissions in the following formats:
Text including poems(<20 lines), memoirs/fiction (<2,000 words), love letters. We strongly recommend including a photo!
Photography and Art (.jpeg, .png, or .pdf via link) with a written artist’s statement.
Videos <5 minutes in length (.mp4 format via link) with a written statement as well.
If they are longer in length, we may have to split up the content when promoting.
Anything else/hybrid as long as it fits through the form, go ahead！DM us on instagram (@loveletterstosj) or email us ([email protected]) if you would like to confirm it works!Please format your file name as “initialstitle” (ex: John Doe, Family Recipes = jdfamilyrecipes).
